We can provide assessment and management services including laser and surgery to ensure you have the best care for all your eye-related issues. Patient Information

On arrival to East St Kilda Eye Clinic for an appointment you will be greeted by our friendly staff.

New patients will need to complete a Registration Form. In order to be eligible to claim for Medicare reimbursement for your consultation, you will need a current referral from a doctor or optometrist. Referrals from general practitioners and optometrists are usually valid for 12 months. Referrals from specialists are valid for 3 months.

Then you will be seen by an orthoptist who will take your medical history and perform your eye test. It is usual for your pupils to be dilated with drops to allow the ophthalmologist to perform a thorough examination of your eyes. The drops can take up to 20 minutes to take effect, after which you will see the ophthalmologist, who will complete the assessment and discuss your diagnosis and any treatment needed.

Please note that if your pupils are dilated, it is advisable to avoid driving until your vision returns to normal. We recommend that you bring sunglasses to your appointment to reduce glare resulting from pupillary dilatation.

We are able to send an SMS reminder for your appointment if you provide us with your mobile phone number. If you need to cancel your appointment, reschedule or are running late, please contact us as soon as possible.
